Hi!
It’s podcast day and I’m writing to you again with glorious sunshine outside, and super grateful for this beautiful Autumnal weather that we have been enjoying in the UK.
Today is also World Menopause Day and the theme this year, is cognition and mood. I think the majority of us at some stage in this midlife journey experience issues with both so it’s fantastic these conversations are being had. The British Menopause Society are busy #ContinuingTheConversation as are many others so let’s keep it going!
In this podcast episode, author Cary J Hansson talks to me about her epic midlife adventure in which she went back to university, already as a mum of twins, and having also navigated divorce. The working title was originally ‘All Change’ because that’s pretty much what happened (I just thought it wasn’t particularly catchy). But you’ll hear that she’s been totally fearless in changing everything after accidentally falling in love and then deciding to relocate to Sweden after she graduated. Oh, and then she found out she was carrying more than suitcases!
The closest thing to living the dream is to follow your heart…
I’m not so sure she set out for it to be an adventure but it really was. And then, of course, hormones began to change so she had even more navigating to do. So in this episode she’s candid about whether it was brave or barmy - personally I think it’s both. She did a fantastic thing in being brave enough to follow her heart and make everything work, her story is inspirational.
During all of this newness, she was also raising twins and a new baby, learning a new language; paddleboarding and cold water swimming for her sanity, and writing short stories and novels which you can find here. They all deal wonderfully with the true ups and downs of ‘midlife’. Click the picture to buy A Midlife Holiday from Amazon and the sequel comes out November 1st.
Cary is a fabulous example of taking life by the horns and not being held back by the fear of ‘what if….?' It’s a wonderful conversation and reminder that life is for living, at every stage!
I hope you enjoy
Love first,
